De veiligheid van speelgoed is gerelateerd aan de bescherming van de gezondheid van kinderen. Het wordt op Europees niveau geharmoniseerd om te voldoen aan de fundamentele voorschriften bij de vervaardiging ervan. De normen van de Europese normalisatie-instellingen leveren het bewijs van overeenstemming met de fundamentele voorschriften. Speelgoed dat hieraan voldoet, is voorzien van de CE-markering van overeenstemming.

| Summary: |
The safety of toys is related to the protection of children’s health. The matter is harmonised at European level so that the essential requirements can be met at the manufacturing stage. The standards laid down by the European standardisation bodies provide evidence of compliance with the essential requirements. Toys that meet these requirements bear the CE conformity marking.
