Verbetering in de resultaten voor kinderen en adolescenten met mentale gezondheidsnoden vragen een bredere meta-systemische oriëntatie om de aanhoudende problemen in het huidige dienstensysteem te overkomen. Verbetering in de resultaten vergen een inclusie van het huidige en opkomende bewijs over de effectieve gebruiken voor de diverse populatie van jongeren en hun families. De belangrijkste onderdelen van het meta-systeem voor kinderen met emotionele of gedragsmatige noden bevatten families, culturele normen en waarden en dienstensectoren zoals scholen, gezondheidscentra voor kinderen, gespecialiseerde mentale gezondheidssystemen, jeugdrechtssystemen, kinderbeschermingsdiensten, en centra voor de behandeling van middelengebruik. De auteurs beschrijven elke component van het meta-systeem, noteren de uitdagingen ten aanzien van de provisie van op bewijs gebaseerde gebruiken en benadrukken de verschillende manieren om de resultaten te optimaliseren. De focus ligt op de inclusie van op bewijs gebaseerde evaluaties en interventies, inclusief preventie, binnen een contextueel model dat gedreven wordt door ontwikkeling en responsief is ten aanzien van de cultuur. |
| Summary: |
Improving outcomes for children and adolescents with mental health needs demands a broad meta-systemic orientation to overcome persistent problems in current service systems. Improving outcomes necessitates inclusion of current and emerging evidence about effective practices for the diverse population of youth and their families. Key components of the meta-system for children with emotional or behavioral needs include families, cultural norms and values, and service sectors such as schools, pediatric health centers, specialty mental health systems, juvenile justice systems, child protection services, and substance use treatment systems. We describe each component of the meta-system, noting challenges to the provision of evidence-based practice (EBP) and highlighting ways to optimize outcomes. Our focus is on the inclusion of evidence-based assessment and interventions, including prevention, within a developmentally driven and culturally responsive contextual model. |
