This book provides a critical analysis of the Belgian jurisdiction in relation to the Hague Convention on Child Abduction (1980) and the European Convention on Recognition and Enforcement of Decisions Concerning Custody of Children and on Restoration of Custody of Children (the Luxembourg Convention of 1980), reviewing the decision of the Belgian courts in the light of the commentaries to these conventions. This analysis provides an in insight on how these conventions, and especially the Hague Convention on Child Abductions, are applied by the Belgian courts, with regard to both the substantive law as the procedural law.
