Summary: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed in 1948 as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected. Mensenrechten:Burgerlijke en politieke rechten:AlgemeenSamenvatting: Deze resolutie bevat 39 principes voor de bescherming van alle personen die zich onder enige vorm van detentie of gevangenschap bevinden. Principe 5 bespreekt, onder andere, de bescherming van de rechten en de speciale statussen van kinderen. Principe 16.3 gaat over het begrip dat de jongere in gevangenschap of detentie heeft van zijn/haar rechten. Principe 31 bespreekt de zorg voor kinderen en minderjarige gezinsleden.
Deze resolutie is een uitwerking van de International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.Summary: This resolution contains 39 principles for the protection of all persons who are under any form of detention or imprisonment. Principle 5 discusses, among others, the protection of children’s right and special statuses. Principle 16.3 discusses the juvenile's understanding of his/her entitlement. Principle 31 discusses the care for children and minor members of the family.

Het document wil kinderen op de eerste plaats zetten; armoede uitroeien; geen enkel kind achterlaten; zorg voor elk kind; onderwijs voor elk kind; bescherming van kinderen tegen schade en uitbuiting; bescherming van kinderen tegen oorlog; bestrijding van HIV/Aids; luisteren naar kinderen en hun participatie bevorderen; en de aarde beschermen voor kinderen.
