Deze richtlijn wil minimumeisen vaststellen om verbeteringen in de gezondheid en veiligheid van jonge werknemers te waarborgen. De richtlijn is vastgesteld om ervoor te zorgen dat jonge mensen beschermd worden tegen economische uitbuiting en tegen elke arbeid die hun veiligheid en gezondheid of ontwikkeling kan schaden, of die hun onderwijs in gevaar kan brengen. De richtlijn geldt voor personen jonger dan 18 jaar die een arbeidsovereenkomst of een arbeidsverhouding hebben, zoals omschreven in het nationale recht. De richtlijn verplicht de lidstaten, onder de voorwaarden die deze zelf bepalen, werk te verbieden voor kinderen die ofwel de leeftijd van 15 jaar nog niet hebben bereikt, ofwel nog onderworpen aan de verplichte voltijdse leerplicht. Ook moet de lidstaat ervoor zorgen dat werkgevers garanderen dat de arbeidsomstandigheden van jonge werknemers aansluiten bij hun leeftijd. Bovendien moeten jonge werknemers beschermd worden op het werk en moet hun werk gereguleerd worden, met inbegrip van specifieke regels inzake werktijden ('s nachts werken, rusttijden, etc.). |
| Summary: |
This directive intends to adopt minimum requirements in order to guarantee improvements in the health and safety of young workers. The Directive on the protection of young people at work was adopted with the purpose of ensuring that young people are protected against economic exploitation and against any work likely to harm their safety and health or development or to jeopardise their education. The Directive applies to persons below 18 years of age who have an employment contract or employment relationship as defined by national law. The Directive requires the Member States, under the conditions which it lays down, to prohibit work by children who either have not yet attained the age of 15 or who are still subject to compulsory full-time schooling, to ensure that employers guarantee that young workers have working conditions which suit their age and to ensure that young workers are protected at work and that the work is regulated, including specific rules on matters relating to working time (night work, rest periods etc.).
