| Summary: |
This research’s objective is have European Youth reflect about what it means to be poor. Poverty remains one of the most important problems of Western society. A significant task regarding the battle against poverty is to make as many people of society aware of what it means to be poor. This is best achieved through channels that will reach the target group, as well as a language that is understood by the target group. Computer- and videogames are currently the ideal channel to reach youngsters; these games evolved from a niche to a creative, mainstream product of culture for youth. Consequently, the 'Koning Boudewijn' institute invests, in collaboration with the ‘Interdisciplinary Institute for Broadband Technology’ (IBBT), in the development of a game to be used in schools, that aims at having children experience what it means to be poor. This research project is directed at developing this game. |
