De richtlijn stelt minimumvoorschriften vast voor de uitvoering van het beginsel van gelijke behandeling door de landen van de Europese Unie (EU), met het oog op de bestrijding van discriminatie op grond van ras of etnische afstamming. De richtlijn beschermt alle mensen, inclusief kinderen, in een breed scala van terreinen, zoals onderwijs, gezondheidszorg, sociale bescherming, toegang tot goederen en diensten (waaronder huisvesting), en training. Deze richtlijn is vooral relevant voor Roma-kinderen. |
| Summary: |
The directive lays down minimum requirements for the implementation by European Union (EU) countries of the principle of equal treatment, with a view to combating discrimination on the grounds of racial or ethnic origin. This Directive protects all people, including children, from discrimination on grounds of racial or ethnic origin in a wide range of fields, including education, health care, social protection, access to goods and services including housing, and training. This Directive is particularly relevant to Roma children.
