YELL is een talennetwerkproject bestaande uit onderwijsinstellingen uit 10 Europese landen dat onderzocht hoe jongeren beter gemotiveerd kunnen worden om vreemde talen te leren. Het keek daarbij vooral naar praktijken uit het non-formeel en informeel onderwijs. Hierbij wordt talenleren gecombineerd met andere activiteiten zoals sport, gastronomie, games, theater en andere onspanningsactiviteiten. Het consortium selecteerde voorbeelden van goede praktijken op het vlak van creatief en vernieuwend talenleren in de 10 landen en stelde die ter beschikking van leerkrachten, trainers, jongerenbegeleiders, onderwijsinstellingen via een Virtueel Documentatiecentrum (zie project website). Hierin kunnen voorbeelden van tools, concepten en methoden van talenleren opgezocht worden aan de hand van een aantal parameters zoals doeltaal, categorie en moeilijkheidsgraad en kunnen fiches met verwijzingen naar nuttige links en documentatie opgevraagd worden. Het project ontwikkelde ook een handboek voor het gebruik van deze voorbeelden van goede voorbeelden binnen bestaande onderwijspraktijken en uitgebreide landenrapporten over taalonderwijs (formeel, non-formeel en informeel) en organiseerde tal van workshops, presentaties en conferenties. YELL is a language network project consisting of educational partners from 10 European countries who investigated how youngsters can be better motivated to learn foreign languages. To do so, the consortium studied practices of non-formal and informal education, in which language learning is combined with other activities such as sports, cooking, games, theater and other leisure activities. The consortium selected examples of best practice in the field of creative and innovative language learning in the 10 countries and put those at the disposal of teachers, trainers, youth leaders and educational institutions through a Virtual Documentation Center (see project website). On this platform, examples of language learning tools, concepts and methods can be searched using a number of searching parameters such as target language, category and level of skills. As well, information sheets with useful references and documentation can be consulted. The project also developed a manual on the use of the examples of best practice within existing teaching practices and extensive country reports on language education (formal as well as non-formal and informal education). The consortium organized numerous workshops, presentations and conferences. All reports and end products can be consulted through the project website. |
